Part of a series exploring how natural erosion shapes stone over millennia. This piece takes a found boulder as its starting point, carving only the features of a face emerging from the raw surface — as if the portrait were always there, slowly revealed by wind and water.
A monumental marble sculpture created during the Carrara residency. Two sweeping curved planes rise from a shared base, their surfaces polished to a mirror finish on the inner faces while retaining rough quarry texture on the exterior. The piece marks a meridian — a line of highest point, a moment of balance.
A monumental limestone bust exploring the tension between figurative likeness and geometric abstraction. Angular planes intersect with organic contours, revealing the structure beneath the surface. The deliberate fragmentation suggests memory — incomplete, yet more powerful for what it withholds.

Working primarily in stone, marble, and bronze, Arkeveld creates figurative and abstract sculptures that explore themes of time, memory, and human presence. Based in his private studio, he accepts custom commissions for private collectors, public institutions, and architectural projects worldwide. Each sculpture is hand-carved using traditional tools and methods refined over fifteen years of dedicated practice.
